Marc Spilker
Marc A. Spilker (born June 28, 1964) is an American financial executive. He is currently President of Apollo Global Management LLC, a leading global alternative assets management firm based in New York City.
==Life and career==
A native of Long Island, New York, Spilker is a 1982 graduate of W.C. Mepham High School. He received a BSE (Bachelor of Science in Economics) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986. Spilker then started his career at O'Connor & Associates, a Chicago-based derivatives trading firm.
In 1990, Spilker joined Goldman Sachs, a global investment banking and securities firm based in New York City. He was named partner in 1996. Spilker served as head of Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities in Japan from 1997 to 2000. He joined Goldman Sach's Investment Management Division (IMD) in 2006 as head of Global Alternative Asset Management and in 2007 became chief operating officer and a member of the firm-wide Management Committee.〔http://www.pionline.com/article/20070709/REG/70706042〕 In May 2010, Spilker retired from Goldman Sachs.
Effective December 1, 2010, Spilker was appointed by Apollo Management to the newly created position of President. Spilker runs the day-to-day operations of Apollo and sits on the Company's Executive Committee.
